Even now, basketball fanatics can’t contain their excitement to watch their favourite players in a live game of FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023. To make it more exciting, digital human, Pearl will greet the spectators.
Philippines Presents Pearl, the Country’s First ‘Digital Human’
The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 mania will start in the Philippines. Being one of the host countries, the region has made basketball its most played and most popular sport, regardless of gender and age.
The country won’t be left behind in technology and introduces Pearl, its first ‘digital human’ that can interact with people. This conversational Artificial Intelligence (AI) Avatar is systematised by Digital Human technology. She’ll be headquartered at special kiosks at the Mall of Asia Arena and Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Pearl is installed with ChatGPT technology, including visual and sound sensors. Likewise, she can communicate with sports enthusiasts both in Filipino and English. Moreover, she can answer their FIBA-related queries and provide people with other information. This includes where they can get food or suggest pastimes or amusements in Manila for tourists.
The conversational AI avatar is the first in Asia and the latest in Human technology. She integrates speech recognition, natural language processing, machine learning, and conversational AI to interact with people.
She naturally talks to visitors with specific facial expressions. Basketball aficionados can get updates from the latest game results. This includes leaderboards, statistics, and upcoming matches.
The Role of Digital Human Technology
NTT DATA together with NTT Ltd. and NTT DATA Business Solutions developed Digital Human technology to push Smart Solutions for fans to experience worldwide. These services incorporate creative communications with the most recent innovation in the Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The NTT Group launched Smart Solutions for different sporting events, including the IndyCar Series, Major League Baseball, and Tour de France. It collaborated with Smart and PLDT with its business-to-business arm, Cignal, Mediaquest, and PLDT Enterprise. The NTT Group brought Smart Solutions to the Philippines at the last minute for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.
“The NTT Group has been advocating Smart Solutions for sports for some time now, and we are happy to introduce it to the Philippines at this global event. We look forward to more collaborations with the PLDT Group and the Mediaquest Group as we develop more innovations,” said Noriyuki Kaya, NTT DATA Executive Vice President.
This 19th edition of FIBA’s flagship tournament will happen for the first time across three host nations – Philippines, Japan and Indonesia – from August 25 to September 10.
